Chris Ray, born Christopher Ray Robinson on December 9, 1996, is an artist born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated from the historically black college, Tougaloo College with a B.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He first started writing poems, short stories and lyrics in elementary and even attempted a novel on a typewriter given to him by his parents. Music had always been an integral part of his life, whether by noticing his mother’s taste in a variety of genres or his father’s taste in west and south coast rap. He eventually realized his affinity for music music when hearing Eminem’s “Infinite” from the 1996 album of the same name in 8th grade. While making evident his inspirations, Chris Ray often executes his delivery in double and even triple-time with figurative devices while switching cadences, paying attention to syllable structure and using personal anecdotes. Within his music, much inspiration can be seen from his favorite rapper, Eminem along with others such as Kendrick Lamar, King Los, Childish Gambino, J. Cole, Andre 3000, B.o.B, Rakim and even Tyler, The Creator.
